Sam (they/them/theirs) is a Circulation Associate at Neilson Library. They provide support to the ~40 student employees working in public services and act as an assistant to the Circulation Coordinator. You can find Sam at the Central Service Point on Neilson's ground floor shelving books, managing accounts and reserves, and answering patron questions.

In addition to their library work, Sam is a potter, performing artist, and experimental musician living in the Pioneer Valley. As a percussionist they enjoy thinking about time, and see pottery as a bridge between internal, biological time and deep, geological time. Sam teaches wheel throwing lessons to students of all ages at Artspace (Greenfield) and the Handle Factory (Shelburne Falls), and their current work focuses on teaware for Chinese and Japanese tea service.
