Adam Brisben
IT Service Point Manager, Neilson Library

As a member of Smith’s Information Technology staff, Adam manages the IT Service Desk within Neilson Library’s Central Service Point. The Central Service Point provides solutions for both library and IT needs in one location. There, Adam’s team provides support for all of the printers and computer workstations within Neilson as well as Alumnae Gymnasium. Patrons receive additional technical support for sending and releasing print jobs, utilizing computer workstations, network connectivity, personal computers, and using the self-service studios. Many resources are available to enable patrons to be self-sufficient but the IT Service Point can help guide them as needed. Referrals to other departments are provided such as repair services, OneCard needs, and the computer store to help patrons find solutions.
The IT Service Point also manages equipment loans for students, faculty, and staff ranging from laptops to cameras, audio recorders, microphones, and several peripherals. Adam’s team consists of professional staff and several student assistants who are acquiring skills while helping the Smith community. The IT Service Point plays a vital role in facilitating the exchange of ideas and culture on campus and remotely.
Adam began working in recording studios after receiving his undergraduate degree. He then went on to work for Alesis Studio Electronics, Disney Theme Park Productions, Comedyworld Internet Radio, Thomas Gregor Assoc. as a wiring technician, and a post production sound editor at Point360 Digital Media. Adam’s skill set is valuable for managing digital media equipment.
Adam relocated from Los Angeles to Northampton in 2014. His wife is employed at the Smith College Museum of Art. Adam worked at Springfield College as a Media Services Technician shortly after relocating before coming to Smith.
