Jennifer Chang is the author of two books of poetry, The History of Anonymity (University of Georgia Press, 2008) and Some Say the Lark (Alice James Books, 2017), which won the 2018 William Carlos Williams award. Poet Natasha Trethewey describes Chang’s work as “a piercing meditation, rooted in loss and longing, and manifest in dazzling leaps of the imagination—the familiar world rendered strange.” Her poems have appeared in numerous publications, including American Poetry Review, The Baffler, The New Yorker, The New York Times, Poetry, and A Public Space. Chang currently serves as the Poetry Editor of New England Review, as well as co-chair of the Advisory Board of Kundiman, a national nonprofit that supports Asian American writers and readers. She teaches poetry and literature at the Michener Center for Writers at the University of Texas.
Chang is the Tammis Day AC ’05 Poet-in-Residence for Spring 2023. Chang will read at Leo Weinstein Auditorium in Wright Hall on Tuesday, February 28 at 7 p.m. Livestreams will be available on BDPC Facebook and YouTube pages.
