Arda Collins

Visiting Poet

Arda Collins’ second book, Star Lake (The Song Cave, 2022), is both intimate and profoundly vast. Against a series of beautiful, turbulent landscapes over which loom the Armenian genocide and the loss of her parents, Collins writes sharply self-aware poems that stretch through time: the voices of past grief speak to the writer, who cannot help but look forward into eternity, or rather decide that “we’re already in it.” Collins is also the author of It Is Daylight (2009), which was selected for the Yale Series of Younger Poets Prize, and a recipient of the Sarton Award in Poetry from the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, jubilat, and The American Poetry Review, among others. Collins teaches Creative Writing at Smith College.

Arda Collins will read on October 18, 2022, at 7 p.m. in Leo Weinstein Auditorium. Livestreams of this reading will be found on Facebook and YouTube.
