About World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments, Aimee Nezhukumatathil’s book of nature essays, author Kiese Laymon writes: “The book walks. It sprints. It leaps…This book is about to shake the Earth.” In addition to World of Wonders (Milkweed Editions, 2020), a New York Times best-seller and the Barnes and Noble Book of the Year, Nezhukumatathil is the author of four highly acclaimed poetry collections, most recently Oceanic (Copper Canyon Press, 2018), winner of the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters Award. Nezhukumatathil has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation, and other honors include the Pushcart Prize and the Richard Hugo Prize from Poetry Northwest. She is the first-ever poetry editor for Sierra Magazine and currently works in the M.F.A. program at the University of Mississippi, teaching environmental literature and poetry writing.
